One Wednesday evening in February, one of the children from our church who has recently moved near us came over for a ride to church. His name is Bebeto and he is 10. He was just baptized back in December – scroll down for a picture from the baptism. He said that during his religious education class in school that day his teacher was talking about how sometimes when people make a mistake or when they are angry they say, “Oh God, Oh God, Oh God.” And so he raised his hand and said, “That is misusing the Lord’s name.” His teacher asked him who told him that and he said, “The Bible.” So she asked him where it said that in the Bible. He told her that he would bring his Bible and show her the next day. She also asked him to sing something that he learned at church so he sang “Lord I Lift Your Name on High.” I asked him if he knew where to find the verse and he opened his Bible to Exodus chapter 20 (we studied the 10 Commandments in children’s church just a few weeks ago) and pointed to verse 7. He showed his teacher the verse the next day. He said that she did not agree with him (she told him she is not a Christian), but she said, “Okay.” I was just blown away by this little boy’s boldness to take a stand for the Word of God. He was not afraid because he knows the Truth and he just felt everyone else should hear the Truth, too. May we all be so bold! Amen.
