This is the compound next door to ours. Most families live on a compound surrounded by a fence or wall with several traditional huts or small houses in which the family lives. When a woman gets married, she traditionally moved onto her husband's compound with his family.

This is my home - it has 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen/utility room, and living room. Crystal and I live here. Emily lives next door - she has a dining room instead of a living room, so we use her house for cooking and meal times and our house for hanging out and get-togethers.

This is the road that leads to our houses. Notice the heavy clouds - we have been getting quite a bit of rain. Pray that it will continue - after February there will be little or no rain until October or November.

Emily took this picture from the car as I was driving down the road. It is not uncommon to have to stop for goats or donkeys while driving - even on the main highways!

My first traditional Batswana dish - Pani worms. Maybe not delicious, but edible.
