Join Me in Prayer

Hello again friends and family! It has been a busy month of traveling, camping, ‘rallying’, and a few days of relaxing – all during our break between 2nd and 3rd terms at school. We began the break with a quick trip to Gabs to say goodbye to Em’s family and returned to Palapye just a few days before leaving to attend Youth Rally in a nearby village. This annual rally is like a youth camp for all of the Baptist youth in Botswana. We rode the train there with our group of 24 youth (the largest group in attendance). Since our church is new, it was the first time any of the youth had been to the rally. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the week and one of the girls I’ve been meeting with accepted Christ as her savior! After Youth Rally, we were home for a few days and then we left again for a site visit in Maun with Jeff and Staci Powers (career missionaries) and camping in Makgadikgadi Pans. We had a nice relaxing time with the Powers and a couple of really great days camping. We saw lots of animals – including the amazing sight of around 1,000 zebra leaving a water hole at sunset. Awesome! The first night camping, we listened to a lion roar near our campsite all night! The next morning we got up really early for a game drive and tried to track him, but never actually saw the lions the entire time. Ah, Africa!

Now, it’s time to go back to school and we are busy gearing up for the 3rd term (which started last week). This term is when we will build on the foundation we’ve been laying the whole year and we will begin to talk specifically about sex and God’s plan for sex. At the end of this term, the students will be given the opportunity to sign True Love Waits Commitment cards. It is a spiritual battle we are fighting and I’m asking that all of you unite with me in prayer for these students, for this community, and for the future of Botswana. Please pray that God would prepare the students’ hearts for His word, pray that many of them would hear the Truth and know Christ as savior first – then commit to His plan for their lives (including His plan for sex). I love how Ephesians 6:18 reads in The Message Bible: “In the same way,
prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.” Please join me in prayer for the youth and students here and please pray for me that I will be alert and sensitive to God’s Spirit. Thank you all – I love you!

And enjoy the new photos!!!
